Our Story: From Darjeeling to Global Tea-preneurship
The Chaiom journey began in 2017, rooted in the expertise of our founder, Payalh Agarwwal. Born in Darjeeling, the heartland of premium tea, Payalh’s life has always been defined by her passion for the leaf. With a two-decade-long career in the Education and Food & Beverage sectors, she realized that for her, "Tea runs in her veins parallel to blood."
While traveling across Europe, Payalh witnessed the universal love for Darjeeling tea, recognizing that internationally, tea is regarded as a refined lifestyle rather than a mere commodity. This realization sparked a mission: to disrupt the traditional tea industry.
After returning to India, she immersed herself in tea manufacturing, working directly in tea factories to master every nuance of the process. Chaiom transitioned from Siliguri to the national capital to scale this vision, eventually being joined by her teenage son, Romharsh, during the challenging times of the pandemic. Today, we are a proud Mom-and-Son-owned startup, dedicated to wellness and the Vocal for Local mission.
